Back to School

The Nicaraguan school year starts in mid-February and ends in mid-November so before starting classes in February we had a back-to-school party for the girls at the home.  We started off with dinner, games, desserts.  About halfway through, we built a bonfire behind the home and sat around singing songs and ended with a Bible study about the close friendship between David and Jonathan and encouraging the girls to guard their friendships and to look for godly friends.

Ohio Team Visit

On Palm Sunday, some missionary friends with ABWE brought a team from Ohio by for an afternoon of fun and games.  They started their time off by making ice cream sundaes for all which was a big hit.  They then pulled out supplies for making easter baskets and sent the girls out for an easter egg hunt.  This was something entirely new for the girls as this is not a typical custom for Easter in Nicaragua.  They next played a few games before starting a water balloon toss.  As always the water balloon toss turned into an all-out water war.  After everyone was completely soaked, we ended the time with prayer and sent the team home in their wet clothes.

Holy Week Activities

December Graduations

December in Nicaragua is an exciting time of year.  Not just because it is the month when we celebrate Christmas, but it is also the end of the school year.  The Nicaraguan school year starts in February and ends the last week of November with graduations and promotions extending into the first couple of weeks in December.
